GoKarting Durban Style

On Wednesday, 24th August, we all headed out for some Team building with EpicKarting in Galleria. It was finally a chance to put the office smack talking to the test as we donned our hairnets and crash helmets.

After a few gokart maintenance issues were sorted out, we managed a 10 min run to get used to the cars and the track, before mounting our final assault. The final race involved the 3 fastest (and not so furious) around the track, and a second race with the 3 more sedentary racers taking part.

While the line between gokart and bumper cars became blurred and the line between on the track and off the track became variable we did manage to complete the race with Martin ( the reigning UK Quidco gokarting champion ) taking the checkered flag. We managed to add two entries to the track leaderboard with Sasha putting her name up in lights.

After working up a thirst and appetite on the track we headed for Thirsty Whale on the Amanzimtoti beach front.  This is a very laid back venue which was doing great business for a Wednesday night. Wayne ‘Death Stare’ Nelson was a great pains to ensure that coke was correctly served in a bottle as opposed to draught and that the coke bottle had at least been opened that week before being served.

Nothing like fast(ish) cars with good food and drink for a great night out.
